Avida Finans AB (publ) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Risk Officer (CRO) to lead our risk management function. We are a prominent financial institution headquartered in Stockholm, and we are looking for someone who can ensure we have an effective and robust risk management framework.
About the Role:
As the CRO at Avida, you will play a key role in our leadership team, working closely with both the CEO and the Board of Directors. You will be responsible for ensuring that Avida maintains a robust risk management framework including e.g., the risk management process identifying, assessing, measuring, monitoring, controlling, and managing all types of risks that the company is exposed. Moreover, your efforts will be crucial in maintaining a strong risk culture and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the Risk Management Function (RMF): Lead the RMFs internal and external resources and ensure that the RMF operates sufficiently and has the necessary systems and support. The Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) is included in the RMF and reports to the CRO.
- Support and Advise Senior Management and the Board: Provide the Board, the CEO and other senior executives with essential risk-related information and recommendations.
- Strategic Impact and Change Management: Evaluate risks associated with major changes and transactions, reporting directly to the CEO and the Board.
- Develop and Implement Risk Strategies: Ensure that risk strategies are translated into specific risk limits and that these limits are adhered to.
- Ensure Robust Internal Risk Control: Support development and implementation of comprehensive processes, methods, and tools for assessing financial and operational risks.
- Ensure Robust Capital and Liquidity Adequacy Control: Support development and implementation of comprehensive processes, methods, and tools for assessing capital and liquidity adequacy needs. These measures should ensure that Avida maintains a robust assessment process.
- Training and Culture: Contribute to maintaining a strong risk culture through training and regular dialogue with senior management.
Key Competencies
- Advisor: Solution-oriented, able to provide insightful input to risk owners without creating conflicts and has strong pedagogical skills.
- Challenger: Constructively challenges and identifies potential weaknesses in the risk profile, with high professional integrity.
- Risk Management Expertise: Proficient in identifying, quantifying, and ensuring that risks are within acceptable limits across credit, liquidity, market (interest rate, FX), and operational risks.
- Contingency and Crisis Management: Experience in developing and ensuring the organization can execute contingency and crisis plans.
- Documentation: Proficient in both written and verbal English and Swedish, with a strong ability to write professional texts. Skilled in contributing to the development of new documentation frameworks.
- Process Understanding: Highly process-oriented, enjoys mapping and documenting processes.
- Reporting: Experienced in developing frameworks for internal and external reporting, including resolution reporting.
- Technical Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in risk models, programming, and the use of data systems and tools such as Python and Excel. Capable of understanding and interpreting code documentation, including data warehouses and other relevant technical documentation.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Well-versed in Swedish and European banking regulations and accounting standards, including ICAAP, ILAAP, COREP, and IFRS 9, as well as other relevant regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
- Relevant higher education in finance, statistics, economics, or a related field.
- Solid experience in risk management, preferably in the financial sector.
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and best practices in risk management.
- Experience with credit risk management, preferably from a banking environment.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and lead a team.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
